Wish I Never Met You Chapter 2 Part 4

CHAPTER 2 · PART FOUR

Wish I Never Met You

“Right,” I said, my voice dripping with sarcasm. “Let’s do that.”

He didn’t know it yet, but I was about to shut him down.

I grabbed a chair, scraping it in the process. I dug my hands into my hair before glancing at him. “What do you wanna talk about?”

“The marriage proposal. But for that, we would need to eat,” Seth said, motioning for the waitress.

I grabbed the menu. If he wanted to waste my time, I’d order the most expensive thing available.

“Wagyu ribeye and lobster tail,” I said with a smirk.

“Give me and her that and Château Margaux 2005,” he added calmly.

Of course he didn’t blink. Millionaire behavior.

“I know I came on too strong last time,” he said. “My apologies.”

I nodded. The apology was nice—but meaningless.

“How about we start on a new page?” he asked.

“After the stunt you just pulled?” I raised a brow.

“For that, I’m not sorry.” He slid a sleek black card toward me. “I’m not a creep.”

“I didn’t say you were, Mr. Baker,” I replied pointedly.

“Then stop looking at me like one.”

“You followed me and chased off my date.”

“This is my restaurant,” he said smoothly. “I saw you on CCTV.”

I swallowed. Zara would never let me hear the end of this.

“Fine,” I lied. “I’ll listen.”

“Why do you want to marry me?”

“Because you’re real.”

“That’s not enough.”

“It is for me.”

“How long would this marriage last?” I pressed.

“Six months. But we’d act real.”

“That requires love.”

“I can make you fall in love with me.”

I scoffed. “That’s cocky.”

“I learned from my son.”

“You have a son?”

“Kyle Baker. He’ll be your stepson.”

I stared at him. This man was unhinged.

He slid a brown envelope across the table.

Inside was Gabby’s acceptance letter—to Artwise Art School.

“What the fuck is this?” I snapped.

“I warned you,” he said calmly. “But it wasn’t intentional.”

“Then why bring her up?”

“Because she’s talented. And I can help.”

My resolve wavered.

“I’ll sponsor her education,” he said quietly.

I clenched the letter, my heart pounding.

“I need to confirm this with my daughter.”

He smiled like a man who already knew the answer.
