The Summer I Went Wild Chapter 5 Part 4
Chapter 5 · Part Four
The Summer I Went Wild
“Are those cards any good? Most of the ones from Amazon are lame,” Caleb said, raising a skeptical eyebrow.
“I promise you, these are the real deal.” Maddy stood up, stepping into the center of the circle, hands planted firmly on her hips.
“Alright, everyone. Like every game, this one comes with non-negotiable rules.”
“This is starting to get interesting,” Roger said, smirking.
“You mean spicy,” I corrected, chuckling under my breath.
I shouldn’t have liked where this was heading, but I did. I wanted to see how much Charlotte was willing to reveal—how much the game would coax out of her.
She had that innocent look. The kind mothers admired. The kind that aced tests, stayed boyfriend-free until twenty-one, and made siblings resent her for being too perfect.
And perfection was nonsense. A façade.
Maybe that was why I wanted to see her crack—to prove she wasn’t untouchable.
Or at least, that was the excuse I allowed myself to believe.
“And what are those rules?” Charlotte asked, leaning forward.
My eyes strayed down her long, toned legs. God, I was a leg guy.
“Honesty is everything,” Maddy said. “You either did it or didn’t. Rule two—have a ‘fuck me’ attitude. Whatever happens here stays here.”
“I like the sound of that,” Roger said, winking.
“I don’t plan on keeping it here,” Theo said, eyes locked on Charlotte. “If something happens, I see it through.”
The thought of Theo and Charlotte together left a bitter taste in my mouth.
I needed a distraction. Amanda. Anyone.
“For the record,” Caleb said, “whatever happens here stays here.”
He turned to Charlotte. “Your sister begged me to make sure you loosen up.”
“Mine too,” Maddy added.
Charlotte smiled. “Don’t worry. I’m good.”
“Great! Remember what we talked about before coming here? Boys, action—”
Charlotte lunged and clamped a hand over Maddy’s mouth, laughing.
“Sometimes I wonder who has a bigger mouth—you or Jessica.”
Maddy pointed at herself dramatically.
“I don’t usually like girls who talk too much,” Roger said, “but I’ll make an exception for you.”
“Wait till you hear how dirty my mouth can be,” Maddy shot back.
“Oh, we’ll see,” Roger grinned.
Caleb leaned toward me. “These two are going to make this summer interesting.”
“Interesting usually turns messy,” I replied.
He clapped my shoulder. “Loosen up, bro. We’re just having fun.”
Loosening up sounded tempting.
But when the only person I wanted to loosen up with was Charlotte Brown, trouble was inevitable.
