The Summer I Went Wild Chapter 4 Part 5

Chapter 4 · Part Five

The Summer I Went Wild

Sliding on my flip-flops, I brushed off my dress and ran up the sandy path to the house. The moment I entered, I noticed something crazy.

Every single couch was occupied—except for one.

The one spot that would mean sitting next to Landon.

Everyone had already settled in, their eyes glued to the screen as the credits rolled. Landon turned toward me and shifted slightly, offering just enough space for me on the narrow couch.

My heart skipped a beat.

Caleb looked up at me. “Is there any problem?”

“Nope, I’m good.”

I slid onto the couch beside Landon, determined not to let anyone notice what was happening beneath the surface.

His warmth pressed against me. His scent—cedarwood, something musky, and a hint of tobacco—lingered between us.

Our thighs brushed.

I endured it.

Landon leaned closer. “Madison tells me Game of Thrones is still your favorite.”

“No other show captures my attention like it does.”

He smiled. “The Brown sisters are alike in everything, huh?”

Anger bubbled up.

“I didn’t realize we were back to being friends, Landon.”

“I didn’t know you only spoke to your friends.”

He leaned closer. “Someone’s angry.”

“Nothing.”

“Is it because I didn’t say hi earlier?”

“It’s not like I was begging for your attention.”

He whispered, “I’m sorry. But what was I supposed to do when your boobs were right there in my face?”

I stiffened. “Eww. That’s inappropriate.”

“Not for you.”

Before I could respond, Maddy popped up with pretzels.

“This is your share—for you and Landon.”

I tossed the bowl onto his thigh.

He placed it back on my lap, his hand lingering. “What kind of man would I be if I ate alone?”

“The kind who listens.”

He smirked. “Not very gentlemanly.”

For two hours, I barely absorbed a scene.

The second the credits rolled, I fled to my room.

Later, when Jessica called, I told her everything—

Except the part about Landon Gray.
